John Sickels released his mid-season top 75 prospects this week. The Pittsburgh Pirates had four players on the list, with all four appearing in the top 50. Jameson Taillon, Gregory Polanco, Alen Hanson, and Tyler Glasnow all made the list.
Taillon was first on the list, coming in at number 10. That is up from the pre-season ranking of 17. Sickels notes that his slot at number ten assumes that his July 13th start was an aberration. That ten run outing took Taillon’s ERA from a 2.98 to a 3.75.
Polanco was next, rated 19th overall. Sickels had him 50th in the pre-season rankings, and said that he’s a believer in Polanco.
Hanson was the third Pirates prospect on the list, coming in at number 42. That was up from the pre-season rank of 49, although Sickels said his stock stayed level.
Glasnow hasn’t finished consistently inside the top 50, but has been in that range in a lot of rankings. Sickels had him 46th, after not having him in his pre-season top 150. He feels that Glasnow is among the best pitching prospects in baseball.
