Please Welcome New Beat Writer Nate Barnes to the Pirates Prospects Staff

piratesprospectsTwo weeks ago I posted a few jobs on the site, with one of those jobs being a part-time beat writer. The job postings generated a huge response, with over 75 applicants in a three day span. I will still be working on filling the minor league coverage positions, but today I wanted to announce the new Pirates Prospects beat writer. Nate Barnes (no relation to Barrett Barnes) will be joining the site, sharing the beat writer duties with James Santelli for the remainder of the season.

Nate is an English Writing major at the University of Pittsburgh and is the Assistant Sports Editor of The Pitt News. He has covered Pitt Men’s Basketball, Duquesne Men’s Basketball, and Pitt Baseball beats prior to this summer.

Nate currently covers the Pirates beat for Pittsburgh Sports Report. He will switch to the Pirates Prospects beat full time for the rest of the year starting on August 27th, with James switching to featured articles on the team at that point. Prior to that, Nate will provide occasional coverage on the site, starting with Monday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Please join me in welcoming Nate to Pirates Prospects. You can follow Nate on Twitter @NateBarnes_TPN.
