I believe he felt like he was to strong which made him overthrow.

Anyway you shape this looks it looks stupid. Heck if we want to be careful start Gomez or Locke and have Compton ready in case they struggle.

He looks like a true utility player. Not too mention, anyone with a last name that includes “Jesus” has to help break the curse!

I think Gomez threw before the game.

Also, they’re not sitting for a week. These guys throw everyday. That’s the issue here. It’s not like they do nothing for five days then throw again when their next start comes up.

Can’t believe one of those guys wouldn’t be available with 3 off days in just over a week. If they knew Locke wouldn’t be available for Tuesday, why didn’t they have Gomez throw an “aggressive bullpen session” on Sunday evening instead of Monday? I would be more worried about these guys losing their sharpness by sitting for a week than I would that they threw or didn’t throw a bullpen session.

A routine is a routine, not a holy grail 1. Gomez doesn’t throw that many pitches even when he does start, and with him being a bullpen pitcher anyways, he can throw. 2. Morton just threw 1 inning, which isn’t more than a side session, so he could pitch today having basically just made one additional side session in between starts 3. Locke warmed up, and has now had another day off, so in effect, a side session like if he was pitching on 3 days rest. He can also throw. I know we are being careful with pitchers because of injuries but there’s a point where it becomes ridiculous. We’ve now reached that point.

That routine usually involves throwing everyday. Sometimes the players throw before the game and sometimes they throw after the game. In this case I’m assuming Jeff Locke hadn’t thrown yet, and that was why he was available. Gomez had thrown, and it would have thrown off his routine to have him move up a day.

It’s something where, if you have enough notice you can adjust a guy’s routine and move him up a day to account for the off day. But starting isn’t just about waiting five days until you throw again. There’s a whole schedule of things you do between starts that you also need to adjust.

An aggressive bullpen? As much as the Bucs baby their staff I can’t imagine any problems down the road. Here is a question though, did Locke throw an aggressive bullpen Saturday before he was ready to go in on Sunday? Seems to me that we have more excuses why players can’t do something that ballplayers have been doing since the game was invented then any other team in baseball.

He’s basically in the same situation as Locke. Both got warmed up, and now neither are options for this game.
