Game Notes: Andy Oliver had been pitching out of the bullpen until getting a start in place of Kris Johnson on Sunday. He had fought through control issues all season, but in that return to the starting role, he walked just one batter over five innings. That improved control didn’t last long as he walked three batters in three innings today and 30 of his 57 pitches were balls. After Oliver left, it was Graham Godfrey to the rescue. He threw 4.2 shutout innings to stop the Rochester attack and then the offense took care of the rest. Five runs in the third inning were all that Indianapolis needed for a victory that put them into the International League playoffs. Kelly Shoppach led the way with two RBI’s. Darren Ford scored two runs and Travis Snider reached base three times and drove in a run.
AA: ALTOONA CURVE

Game Notes: In game one of a doubleheader, Nick Kingham gave up just one earned run, but his start was limited by a high pitch count. Through 4.2 innings, he threw 103 pitches, due in part to five walks and eight strikeouts. Jhonathan Ramos followed Kingham and picked up the win by retiring all four batters he faced, three by strikeouts. Luis Sanz pitched a scoreless seventh and got his 16th save of the season. The Curve got their runs on an RBI triple from Alen Hanson, RBI double from Carlos Paulino and a squeeze bunt from Nick Kingham. Drew Maggi scored two runs and stole his 15th base. Game Notes: The Altoona Curve got great pitching from Casey Sadler today, who allowed one run over 6.1 innings. The more impressive thing however, was the display put on by the bats. Every player in the starting lineup, except for Sadler, drove in at least one run in their 13-1 one-sided romp. They had 22 base runners in the seven inning contest, with 16 hits, five walks and a HBP. The Curve had six extra base hits, including two doubles from Gregory Polanco. Alen Hanson and Justin Howard had three hits apiece and everyone except Mel Rojas scored at least one run. Rojas did hit his 27th double and he drove in two runs. Game Notes: For seven innings tonight, Adrian Sampson kept Palm Beach off the board, holding on to a 1-0 lead from the first inning on. Unfortunately, he strong outing turned into a loss when he gave up two eighth inning runs. The Marauders had seven hits on the night, including the 32nd double of the season by Dan Gamache. They weren’t able to get the hits when it counted though, going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. That has been a season long problem for Bradenton, who had no one in the lineup tonight batting above Gamache’s .262 average.

Game Notes: Clay Holmes was knocked out of the game early, as he gave up four hits, two walks, a HBP, plus there was two errors in his 1.2 innings. Those three runs off Holmes were the only runs Savannah scored, as Bryton Trepagnier threw 4.1 shutout innings and Cesar Lopez added another three to get the victory. Lopez retired all nine batters he faced. The game was scheduled for seven innings, but took nine to complete. Dilson Herrera and Francisco Diaz each homered in a three run second inning. Diaz drove in another two runs in the ninth inning, giving the Power the lead. The home run and triple were each the first of the season for Diaz, who has 197 AB’s on the year.

Game Notes: Savannah earned the split in game two as they were the one that put up six runs this time, scoring three off starter Kyle Haynes and another three off Ryan Hafner in the sixth inning. Haynes actually lowered his season ERA to 2.21 due to two of the three runs being unearned. The only West Virginia run came on an RBI double in the sixth inning by Raul Fortunato that scored Walker Gourley.

Game Notes: Cody Dickson had a tough outing his last time out, ending a string of five straight starts in which he didn’t allow an earned run. Tonight he returned to form, throwing five shutout innings. The Jamestown offense was held without a hit until they had two outs in the eighth inning, then they put two runs on the board to take a 2-1 lead. Edwin Espinal broke the no-hitter with a single, then after a walk to Erich Weiss, Adam Landecker singled home Justin Maffei, who pinch ran for Espinal. Weiss scored on the same play after a throwing error by the catcher. Andy Otamendi got the win by throwing a scoreless eighth inning in which he struck out all three batters he faced. Brett McKinney finished out the game for his ninth save.

Game Notes: Blake Taylor went four innings for the first time as a pro and he did it in impressive fashion. The 2013 second round pick threw four perfect inning, striking out four batters. Reliever Yhonathan Barrios pitched a scoreless eighth inning, striking out two batters. The former infielder now has pitched ten innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out nine batters. On the offensive side, Austin Meadows hit his fifth homer and it came off fellow first round draft pick Ian Clarkin. Nick Buckner added his 28th RBI of the season and Ulises Montilla drove in his 30th run. Enyel Vallejo extended his hitting streak to ten games.
