Bradenton Marauders Announce Opening Day Roster

The Bradenton Marauders have announced their 2014 Opening Day roster. Among the top prospects to begin the season with the team are right fielder Josh Bell and catcher Jin-De Jhang. Pitcher Tyler Glasnow, who ranks third among prospects in the system, should join the team in 2-3 weeks once he recovers from a minor back injury that occurred during Spring Training. Clay Holmes was scheduled to make the team, but he will miss the entire season due to Tommy John surgery. The entire roster is below with left-handed pitchers marked with an asterisk. We will have a complete team preview of the Marauders later this week. On Saturday, the Altoona Curve released their roster.

John was born in Kearny, NJ, hometown of the 2B for the Pirates 1909 World Championship team, Dots Miller. In fact they have some of the same relatives in common, so it was only natural for him to become a lifelong Pirates fan. Before joining Pirates Prospects in July 2010, John had written numerous articles on the history of baseball while also releasing his own book and co-authoring another on the history of the game. He writes a weekly article on Pirates history for the site, has already interviewed many of the current minor leaguers with many more on the way and follows the foreign minor league teams very closely for the site. John also provides in person game reports of the West Virginia Power and Altoona Curve.

Does this mean Barrett Barnes is going back to West Virginia? I haven’t heard much about him all spring – not a good sign.

Yes, Barnes is going to WV. That was the plan since early on in Spring. It’s actually going to be a pretty exciting outfield there with Meadows, Ramirez and Barnes

my player to watch Osuna, has put up inconsistent numbers but has shown flashes of something. Especially seeing we don’t got much at first in the organization

I’m anticipating a good year from Josh Bell, arguably one of the top 10 prospects form his draft class, who fell into our lap in the second round.
