Reese McGuire is the starting catcher of the future for the Pirates.

Reese McGuire Placed on the West Virginia Disabled List

The West Virginia Power have placed catcher Reese McGuire on the disabled list with an unknown injury. Kawika Emsley-Pai has replaced McGuire on the West Virginia roster.

McGuire had been playing as the designated hitter this week, playing two games in a row before missing yesterday’s game. I’ll update this post with more information when it becomes available.

UPDATE: The injury for McGuire is a groin contusion. It is backdated to Saturday, and while the name of the injury sounds horrible, it doesn’t seem like McGuire will miss a lot of time.
