Minor League Schedule: Casey Sadler Looks to Bounce Back From First Poor Outing

Published:

Casey Sadler got hit hard last week after returning from a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He goes today, trying to get back to the pitcher that allowed just five earned runs in his first four starts combined. Joely Rodriguez was originally slated to go on Tuesday for Altoona, but Zack Dodson returned from the disabled list and made the start. Rodriguez came into the year as the 15th ranked prospect in the system, but he hasn’t looked like the same pitcher he was last year when he split the season between Bradenton and West Virginia. Indianapolis has an early afternoon start today. Check out the Prospect Watch from last night. For a look at possible starters down the line, check out our Probable Starter Chart. All minor league transactions over the last month can be found at the bottom of the page.

John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects.
