Minor League Schedule: Jeff Locke Returns to Indianapolis

For Indianapolis today, Jeff Locke makes his first start since getting a spot start for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday. Bradenton is off today. The other three teams all have afternoon start times. Yesterday’s Result: Norfolk 3, Indianapolis 2 in 12 innings

Jeff Locke will make his fifth start for Indianapolis today. He made a spot start for the Pirates earlier in the week. In that game, Locke allowed six runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings. He also made one start for Bradenton earlier in the year, striking out ten batters in that outing. For Indianapolis, Locke has thrown 19 innings, giving up 24 hits, four homers and five walks. He has 17 strikeouts, a 1.67 GO/AO ratio and a .300 BAA.

A.J. Morris will make his fourth start of the season today. He has also pitched five times in relief. Morris has thrown a total of 24.1 innings, allowing 12 hits, one homer and nine walks. He has 15 strikeouts, a 1.71 GO/AO ratio and a .145 BAA. In his last start, Morris threw six shutout innings. In his last six appearances combined(two starts), he has thrown a total of 18.2 scoreless innings. Right-handed batters are hitting .070 against him this season.

Probable starter: Chad Kuhl (3-3, 5.24)
Yesterday’s Result: Charlotte 4, Bradenton 1

Bradenton is off today. When they resume play on Monday, Chad Kuhl will make his eighth start of the season. The Marauders are tied for third place in their division, three games behind St Lucie.This is the first meeting of the season between Bradenton and Lakeland. They begin a four game series on Monday, then meet again in Lakeland for another four game series in July.

Low-A: West Virginia (11-23) @ Greenville (18-14) 4:05pm
Probable starter: Cody Dickson (2-4, 4.30)
Yesterday’s Result: Greenville 6, West Virginia 5

Cody Dickson will make his seventh start of the season this afternoon. He has thrown 29.1 innings, giving up 35 hits, three homers and nine walks. He has 21 strikeouts, an 0.94 GO/AO ratio and a .302 BAA. Dickson went five innings in his last start, giving up one run on four hits and two walks. He struck out seven batters in his first start of the year and hasn’t had more than three strikeouts in a start since then. In three road starts, Dickson has a 1.80 ERA. All three road games were day games.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
