Minor League Schedule: Nick Kingham and Tyler Glasnow on the Mound Tonight

Five games on the schedule tonight, with all four full-season affiliates playing at night. Two top pitchers on the schedule with Tyler Glasnow and Nick Kingham going, plus Vance Worley takes on Brad Lincoln, the former first round pick of the Pirates. Check out the Prospect Watch from last night. Vance Worley will make his seventh start of the season tonight. His last outing was the first time he didn’t go at least six innings in his start. He allowed six runs on ten hits and a walk in five innings. Worley has a 3/36 BB/K ratio in 38 innings and he has struck out 19 batters over his last two starts. He has a 5.00 ERA over 18 innings in his three road starts this season.

AA: Altoona (23-37) @ Trenton (32-30) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Nick Kingham (1-6, 2.95)

Nick Kingham will make his 12th start of the season tonight. He was pushed back a day as Stolmy Pimentel made a rehab start on Friday night. He has thrown 64 innings, allowing 63 hits, three homers and 25 walks. He has 48 strikeouts, a 1.03 GO/AO ratio and a .255 BAA. In the month of May, Kingham posted a 2.61 ERA over 38 innings. He has a 2.13 ERA in seven road starts this season. He went nine starts without allowing a homer this year, then gave up three in his last two games. Despite the home runs, he gave up just four runs over those two starts.

Tyler Glasnow will make his ninth start of the season tonight. He has thrown 37.2 innings, allowing 21 hits, no homers and 26 walks. He has 41 strikeouts, an 0.86 GO/AO ratio and a .167 BAA. In his last start, Glasnow threw five shutout innings. He had 5.2 shutout innings in his prior start. In his last four starts combined, he has given up just two runs over 20.2 innings. Glasnow has a 1.59 ERA away from home and a .108 BAA.

Low-A: West Virginia (20-40) @ Hickory (33-27) 7:00pm
Probable starter: Cody Dickson (2-7, 5.19)

Cody Dickson will make his 12th start of the season tonight. He has pitched 50.1 innings, allowing 62 hits, six homers and 22 walks. He has 39 strikeouts, a 1.02 GO/AO ratio and a .307 BAA. In his last start, he allowed four runs on six hits and three walks in 4.2 innings. In his last three starts combined, Dickson has given up 17 runs over 12 innings. On the road this season, he has a 3.63 ERA in seven starts.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
