Minor League Schedule: Luis Heredia Takes on Tough Hickory Team Tuesday Night

AAA: Indianapolis (47-37) vs Toledo (40-45) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Adam Wilk (6-6, 4.68)
Yesterday’s Result: Toledo 9, Indianapolis 1

Adam Wilk will make his 16th start of the season tonight. He has also pitched once in relief. Wilk has thrown a total of 90.1 innings, allowing 99 hits, 11 homers and 25 walks. He has 61 strikeouts, an 0.84 GO/AO ratio and a .284 BAA. In his last start, Wilk gave up six runs on ten hits in 4.1 innings. He has a 4.41 home ERA in 49 innings.

AA: Altoona (29-53) @ Bowie (45-38) 6:35pm
Probable starter: Joely Rodriguez (4-6, 4.21)
Yesterday’s Result: Bowie 7, Altoona 6

Joely Rodriguez will make his 16th start of the season tonight. In his last outing, he surrendered just one hit and one run over seven innings. Rodriguez has gone at least six innings in each of his last five starts. He faced Bowie in early May and allowed one run on six hits in five innings. He has posted a 5.20 ERA in seven road starts this year.

High-A: Bradenton (41-39, 6-5 2nd half) vs Fort Myers (38-41) 6:30pm
Probable starter: Orlando Castro (5-4, 3.36)
Yesterday’s Result: St Lucie 5, Bradenton 2

Orlando Castro will make his 15th start of the season tonight. He has also pitched once in relief. Castro has pitched a total of 83 innings, allowing 76 hits, four homers and ten walks. He has 61 strikeouts, a 1.42 GO/AO ratio and a .246 BAA. In his last two outings combined, Castro has thrown 13 shutout innings, giving up seven hits and no walks. He has finished with four strikeouts in each of his last five starts. He has a 3.33 home ERA in 46 innings this year.

Low-A: West Virginia (28-52, 7-4 2nd half) vs Hickory (51-30) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Luis Heredia (1-2, 3.94)
Yesterday’s Result: Lakewood 8, West Virginia 7 in 15 innings

Luis Heredia will make his eighth start of the season tonight. He has thrown a total of 29.2 innings, allowing 26 hits, three homers and 16 walks. Heredia has 19 strikeouts, a 1.23 GO/AO ratio and a .232 BAA. In his last start, he threw six shutout innings. He faced Hickory on June 5th and went four innings, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks in four innings. Tyler Eppler will make his fourth start of the season tonight. He went five innings in his last start, allowing three runs(two earned) on four hits and two walks. Eppler gave up one run over four innings in his second start and he threw three perfect innings in his first game as a pro.

John Dreker
John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
