He writes a weekly article on Pirates history for the site, has already interviewed many of the current minor leaguers with many more on the way and follows the foreign minor league teams very closely for the site. John, do you think it’s time to move Dodson to the bullpen yet? Maybe call up creasy or Kuchno to finish the season in Altoona.

    • John Dreker

Altoona seems to have a lot of room in their starting rotation for pitchers doing well in Bradenton. I think Glasnow moves soon due to his improved control recently. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is his last High-A start because there is only about 6-7 starts left after today

      • deacs

I was wondering that. He’s been keeping his walks down which should be enough to call him up right? I mean, they don’t expect him to completely cure any control issues before a call up I would hope.

        • John Dreker

I think they just wanted to see better results from his change-up, along with some improvements with his fastball command. He has shown both, so I expect to see him at Altoona soon

          • deacs

So at this point does he have a plus fastball, plus curve and average/passable change?

            • John Dreker

The fastball and curve are plus pitches, but Keith Law just recently said his change-up is above average too. I’ve heard it’s improving, but that’s the first someone has said it’s above average and it’s probably on behalf of a scout(or scouts), not Law himself

              • deacs

Skys the limit for him. Awesome. Thanks John. Here’s hoping to June 2016.

I think it is time to move Glasnow to Altoona – 11 more Ks tonight, 1-0 shutout win, 1.64 ERA to date. He’s making it look pretty easy in the FSL – lets see what he can do in AA for the next 45 days. Move Sampson to Indy, and fill in his spot with Glasnow.
