Injury Updates on Charlie Morton and Travis Snider

Published:

Yesterday, Charlie Morton made his first rehab start in Double-A Altoona for his sports hernia injury. Morton pitched four innings, surrendering two runs on four hits and one walk. He struck out six. Morton was fairly pleased with his performance.

“He felt like he was able to execute pitches,” Hurdle said.

Though he was able to execute pitches, Morton still isn’t pleased with his recovery from the injury

“Didn’t feel significantly better than he did the last time he took the ball, so we’re just gonna get his feedback and decide what step’s next,” Hurdle said.

Besides Morton, Travis Snider is still out of the lineup, as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury. Snider, however, is confident in his ability to recover from the injury due to past experience.

“I’ve dealt with these types of injuries in the past, where if you can limit the exposure over the first couple of days it puts you in a good position to be healthy,” Snider said. Despite that, Snider isn’t ready to predict when he’ll be ready to play again. “I’m not putting a date or time on anything, but really just understanding how my body responds to these type of things and doing everything I can in the next however many days it takes to get ready to go.”

Snider did say that his health is slowly improving.

“Today was better than yesterday. Walking better, swung the bat a little bit.”
