Minor League Schedule: Cody Dickson is Undefeated Since the All-Star Break

Six teams on the schedule today. The GCL and DSL Pirates have off today, while Jamestown has a doubleheader. AAA: Indianapolis (59-57) vs Toledo (55-60) 1:35pm
Probable starter: Adam Wilk (7-10, 4.56)
Yesterday’s Result:  Indianapolis 4, Toledo 3

Adam Wilk will make his 22nd start of the season tonight. He has also pitched once in relief. Wilk has thrown a total of 130.1 innings, giving up 142 hits, 15 homers and 37 walks. He has 93 strikeouts, an 0.90 GO/AO ratio and a .282 BAA. In his last start, Wilk gave up six runs on eight hits and five walks in six innings. He has gone at least six innings in each of his last six starts.

AA: Altoona (49-66) vs Richmond (66-48) 6:00pm
Probable starter: Jhonathan Ramos (2-5, 5.06)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 7, Richmond 6

Jhonathan Ramos will get his fourth start for Altoona tonight. He has pitched 23 times in relief for the Curve, six times in relief for Indianapolis and he also made one start for the Indians. Ramos went 5.2 innings in his last start, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk. He pitched in relief against Richmond on 5/29 and allowed three runs while picking up just one out. He has a 3.80 ERA at home for Altoona and a 6.63 road ERA.

High-A: Bradenton (60-49, 25-15 2nd half) vs Brevard County (56-48) 5:00pm
Probable starter: Shane Carle (1-2, 5.40)
Yesterday’s Result: Brevard County 4, Bradenton 2

Shane Carle will get his fifth start for Bradenton tonight. He gave up four runs on six hits and four walks in 5.2 innings in his last start. While with West Virginia, Carle had a 3.72 ERA in 82.1 innings. On the season, he has thrown a total of 107.1 innings, surrendering 121 hits, 12 homers and 16 walks. He has 60 strikeouts, a 1.49 GO/AO ratio and a .285 BAA.

Low-A: West Virginia (40-70, 20-22 2nd half) vs Lexington (45-67) 2:05pm
Probable starter: Cody Dickson (5-8, 4.42)
Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia 6, Lexington 1

Cody Dickson will make his 22nd start of the season today. He has thrown 99.2 innings, allowing 110 hits, eight homers and 47 walks. He has 74 strikeouts, a 1.09 GO/AO ratio and a .287 BAA. In his last start, Dickson went four innings, giving up five runs on five hits and five walks. He has not allowed a home run in his last eight starts. Since the All-Star break, Dickson is 3-0, 2.70 in eight games and has held batters to a .265 BAA, 36 points lower than his BAA before the All-Star break.

Yesterday’s Result: Jamestown was rained out yesterday

Marek Minarik will make his ninth start today. His last outing came in relief. He went four innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk. Minarik has a 21/19 BB/SO ratio in 36 innings, with a 1.86 GO/AO ratio and a .250 BAA. Tyler Eppler will make his tenth start of the season. He has thrown 39.2 innings, allowing 37 hits, five homers and eight walks. He has 26 strikeouts, a 1.14 GO/AO ratio and a .240 BAA. In his last start, Eppler gave up one earned run on five hits and a walk in 4.1 innings.

John Dreker
John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
