Minor League Schedule: Gerrit Cole Makes His Second Rehab Start Tonight

Six teams on the schedule today, with an off-day scheduled for both Bradenton and Jamestown. In Indianapolis, Gerrit Cole will make his second rehab start. Yesterday’s Result: Toledo 4, Indianapolis 1

Gerrit Cole will make his second rehab start for Indianapolis tonight. He went five shutout innings in his debut, allowing five hits, three walks and he had seven strikeouts. Cole will likely be on a 100 pitch limit after throwing 81 in his first start.

AA: Altoona (50-66) @ Trenton (56-60) 7:05pm
Probable starter:Thomas Harlan (2-1, 2.60)
Yesterday’s Result: Altoona was off yesterday

Thomas Harlan will get his sixth start for Altoona tonight. He has thrown 27.2 innings, allowing 32 hits, one homer and five walks. He has 13 strikeouts, a 1.24 GO/AO ratio and a .299 BAA. In his last start, Harlan went 6.1 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, no walks and he had five strikeouts. Harlan started the year with Bradenton, where he made 21 relief appearances. He had a 2.49 ERA and a 9/41 BB/SO ratio in 50.2 innings.

Bradenton is off today. They are in first place in their division’s second half title chase. The Marauders have a 1/2 game lead over Palm Beach. The two teams meet four more times this year. Bradenton has just one more off-day left this season.

Dovydas Neverauskas will make his 22nd start of the season tonight. He has thrown 99.1 innings, surrendering 119 hits, ten homers and 43 walks. He has 64 strikeouts, an 0.92 GO/AO ratio and a .301 BAA. In his last start, Neverauskas went six innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and no walks. He gave up one run over seven innings in his previous outing.

John Dreker
John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
