Minor League Schedule: Tyler Glasnow Headlines a Busy Thursday

All eight teams on the schedule today, with two doubleheaders. Bradenton will play 2 seven inning games, with Tyler Glasnow on the mound for one of them. Bristol will finish an earlier game against Kingsport that was suspended with the score 7-7 in the seventh inning, then they will play a seven inning game. Yesterday’s Result: Indianapolis was off yesterday

Casey Sadler will make his 18th start for Indianapolis tonight. He has thrown 105 innings, allowing 103 hits, nine homers and 22 walks. He has 64 strikeouts, a 1.56 GO/AO ratio and a .261 BAA. In his last start, Sadler went seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk. Prior to that, he had allowed at least seven hits in six straight starts. Sadler has also made four relief appearances for the Pittsburgh Pirates this year.

AA: Altoona (50-68) @ Trenton (58-60) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Jhonathan Ramos (3-5, 4.84)

Jhonathan Ramos will make his fourth start for Altoona tonight. He has pitched 24 times in relief, plus made seven appearances for Indianapolis. Ramos made his last appearance in relief on Sunday, throwing two shutout innings. In his last start, he went five innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and a walk. Ramos pitched against Trenton in relief on 6/7, throwing a shutout inning.

Probable starter: Pat Ludwig (2-2, 3.56) and Tyler Glasnow (8-5, 1.63)

Tyler Glasnow will get his 19th start of the season tonight. He has thrown 94 innings, allowing 56 hits, one homer and 49 walks. He has 111 strikeouts, an 0.69 GO/AO ratio and a .175 BAA. In his last start, Glasnow threw six shutout innings, giving up just two hits and he walked four batters. He faced Jupiter on 6/19 and threw six shutout innings. In nine home starts, he has a 1.07 ERA. Glasnow is holding right-handed batters to a .138 BAA. Pat Ludwig will get the second start tonight, as he returns from Altoona, where he had a 5.63 ERA in 40 innings. He has thrown 60.2 innings for Bradenton this year, giving up 62 hits, seven homers and 16 walks. He has 46 strikeouts, a 1.28 GO/AO ratio and a .261 BAA.

Felipe Gonzalez will make his sixth start of the season. He has also pitched 25 times in relief. As a starter, he has a 1.96 ERA in 23 innings. He went six innings in his last start, allowing one run on three hits and two walks. Gonzalez has a 20/74 GO/AO ratio in 80 innings this season, while posting a .222 BAA. He has held lefties to a .199 average.

Frank Duncan will make his tenth start of the season. He has thrown 39.1 innings, surrendering 43 hits, two homers and eight walks. He has 23 strikeouts, an 0.83 GO/AO ratio and a .285 BAA. In his last start, Duncan went 3.2 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and two walks. He has a 4.35 ERA in five road starts.

John Dreker
John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
