The Pirates New Affiliate in Morgantown Will Be Called The West Virginia Black Bears

Published:

A few weeks ago, the Morgantown franchise (which just relocated from Jamestown) held a naming contest. Today, the franchise announces that the new team will be called the West Virginia Black Bears. The team is the new Pittsburgh Pirates’ affiliate in the New York-Penn League, which is the level just below their other team in West Virginia, the Power.

As I wrote a few weeks ago when the voting first started, this should absolutely come with some Dwight Schrute promotions.
