Site Updates: Get a Free One Year Subscription, Gifts, New Site Design, Job Posting

Published:

Today marks one month since we’ve announced the plans to change over to a subscription site. Pirates Prospects already had the best coverage of the Pirates’ minor league system, and the subscription model will allow us to make that even better. We’ve already started that, with a ton of coverage from the minors in the first two weeks of the season, along with increasing MLB coverage. My goal is to make this the best Pirates site, with the best coverage of the entire system.

I wanted to keep the subscription prices low so that as many people as possible could subscribe and access our content. We offer monthly plans at $2.99 per month, an Annual plan that averages out to $2.50 per month, and a three-year Top Prospect Plan that averages out to less than $2.25 per month. But the best plan might be our promotion with DraftKings.

If you sign up with a new DraftKings account and make a first deposit of at least $5, you will get a free one-year subscription to the site. Just sign up for the DraftKings $100,000 contest. By clicking that link, you will be taken to the draft room, where you will select your team. Once your team is selected, you will be taken to a screen to create your account.

Once you create an account, your entry will be submitted. You will then be directed to an optional deposit screen where you can make your first deposit. You will need to make a deposit of $5 or more to qualify. However, DraftKings is offering a one time 100% match bonus on your first deposit, up to $600.

After you make your initial deposit, participate in a contest to fulfill the final step. Once you have completed these steps, send an e-mail to Javier Vargas at DraftKings (jvargas@draftkings.com) and let him know you are participating in the Pirates Prospects subscription promotion. Javier will confirm whether you’ve met the requirements, then will contact me so I can give you a coupon code that will allow you to set up your one year subscription.

Not only do you get the one-year subscription to the site, but you also get to participate in a great fantasy sports site. The promotion is only available to new DraftKings accounts. If you already have a Pirates Prospects subscription, you can still participate, and I will add the free year to the end of your current subscription. Anyone who completes the promotion will also have the option of upgrading their free one-year subscription to a three-year plan at a low rate.

I wanted to make the site accessible for as many people as possible, and this outstanding deal is the absolute best plan we offer.

Gift Subscriptions Available

If you know anyone who is a big Pirates fan who might enjoy the site, you can purchase a gift subscription for them. If you’re already a member of the site, just go to the subscription page, choose the product you want, and on the checkout page click the “Is this a gift?” box.

If you don’t have an account on the site, you can fill out the form for a free account at the bottom of the subscription page. The free account just allows you to purchase products on the site, and you can use that to purchase a gift on the subscription page (once again, be sure to check the “Is this a gift?” box).

West Virginia Writer Needed in Charleston

We’ve got some upcoming coverage from the West Virginia Power. We’ll have coverage from a few of their road trips in the next month, and I’ll be covering them at home in Charleston from May 7th-11th. We’re still looking for coverage from their home games. Any interested applicants should e-mail me at tim@piratesprospects.com.

New Cleaner Site Design

We updated the design of the site earlier this year due to the old design being a few years outdated from a software standpoint. At the time we were still under the old ad model, and needed a site that could specifically cater to that need, with room for all of the ads on the site.

I’ve mentioned the last few weeks that I’ll be phasing the current ad networks out of the site as the subscription model takes hold. With that, we can get a cleaner site design, and mostly likely a site that will load faster. This weekend will begin those changes.

I’ll be uploading a new look to the site over the weekend, which will feature fewer ads and a much cleaner design. The new theme will also eliminate a few small technical and display problems on the site.

As I’ve said, eventually we’ll be getting rid of all of the rotating ads, and I’d like that to be sooner than later. This is the first step toward that.

Subscription Update

We’re approaching 2000 subscriptions just one month after the announcement that we’d be switching the site over to a subscription site. I was hoping to be in the 2000-2500 range by the end of April, and we’re going to be reaching that, which is why we’re able to cut down on the ads so soon. We’ve also been able to provide plenty of live minor league coverage so far, while also starting to increase the MLB coverage.
