Minor Moves: Bell, Glasnow Added to Indianapolis, Holdzkom to DL Again

Published:

A bunch of moves that were announced earlier, were made official today. Tyler Glasnow and Josh Bell were both added to the Indianapolis roster for today’s game. Glasnow will start tonight, while Bell will be at first base, batting seventh in the order.

John Holdzkom has been placed on the disabled list again, this time with a right shoulder strain. This is his third trip to the DL this year and he made just one appearance for Indianapolis this time before returning to the DL. On the year, he has thrown 24.1 innings total, with a 17:30 BB/SO ratio and a 2.96 ERA.

Other moves from today include Jeremy Bleich going from Altoona to Indianapolis, while Hunter Morris has been demoted to Altoona. Expect there to be more moves, as Altoona has just 22 players on their active roster right now. Reliever Josh Smith and outfielder Jonathan Schwind are both due back off the disabled list, so they could be two of the moves. We will post any updates here.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball. When he didn't make it as a lefty pitcher with an 80+ MPH fastball and a slider that needed work, John turned to covering the game, eventually focusing in on the prospects side, where his interest was pushed by the big league team being below .500 for so long. John has covered the minors in some form since the 2002 season, and leads the draft and international coverage on Pirates Prospects. He writes daily on Pittsburgh Baseball History, when he's not covering the entire system daily throughout the entire year on Pirates Prospects.
