The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled OF/1B Andrew Lambo and optioned RHP Gerrit Cole to Bristol. Lambo has a .328/.389/.563 in 61 games with Indianapolis. Jayson Nix Claimed By Royals

The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost infielder Jayson Nix on waivers to the Kansas City Royals. Nix was designated for assignment on Monday to make room for the addition of Jose Tabata to the 40-man roster. Clint Barmes returned from the disabled list that day to take the place of Nix in the infield. While with the Pirates, Nix hit .111/.158/.111 in 36 at-bats over 16 games.
