The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Dana Eveland for assignment, and are expected to make two additions to the 25-man roster today.  The Pirates acquired Eveland at the start of June, after being designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays.  Pittsburgh traded relief pitching prospect Ronald Uviedo for 23 days of Eveland’s service. Zach Duke to the 15-day DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed Zach Duke on the 15-day disabled list, according to Dejan Kovacevic.  Duke missed his scheduled start yesterday, and apparently wasn’t on track to make the re-scheduled start on Saturday.  Duke will miss two starts with what the Pirates are describing as a strained flexor pronator in his left elbow.
