Pirates call up Pearce, Donnelly to the DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially called up Steve Pearce, and have placed Brendan Donnelly on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.  Donnelly’s move was retroactive to April 28th, the day after he last pitched.  He will be eligible to come off the disabled list on May 13th. Indianapolis Indians announcer Scott McCauley is reporting that the Pittsburgh Pirates will call up Steve Pearce.  It was assumed that Neil Walker would be called up after being pulled in the fifth inning of yesterday’s Indians game, but McCauley reports that Walker was pulled for not running out a pop-up.
