First Pitch: Tony Sanchez and All of the Question Marks For the First Base Position

Tonight, Tony Sanchez played his first game at first base in Indianapolis. Ryan Palencer wrote about the details behind the move. I don’t want to read too much into the move, since the main reason is probably to get Elias Diaz some time behind the plate in Triple-A. The fact that Sanchez is playing first base is interesting for a few reasons. 1. There is a designated hitter spot. He can stay in the lineup without the need for a...

Prospect Rewind: Josh Harrison is Exceeding All of His Old Prospect Reports

In the past, we’ve done the Prospect Rewind series, looking back at the reports on certain players, and how they’ve fallen short of those reports, met their reports, or exceeded the projections. So it’s a bit ironic that one of the...

Stolmy Pimentel Begins His Minor League Rehab Assignment Tonight

Stolmy Pimentel, who is currently on the 15-day disabled list with an ankle injury, will make his first rehab appearance tonight in Altoona. Pimentel will start the game and throw one inning. Pimentel was placed on the disabled list last Friday, and threw a bullpen on Sunday. The Pirates don’t have to rush him back, and my guess is that they will wait for rosters to expand before bringing him back up.
