Pirates Sign Five International Free Agents

According to MLB Trade Rumors, via Twitter, the Pittsburgh Pirates have signed the following five international free agents: RHP Adolfo Flores RHP Juan Mendoza SS/2B/OF Edgard Munoz OF Anthony Claudi OF Keybel Escobar We’ve already seen a few of these guys in action this year, so the announcement is on a bit of a delay.  Munoz has played in six games, and is currently 5-for-17 with four stolen bases in seven attempts....

Pirates Spent $5 M On International Bonuses in 2010

Pirates Sign Cuban Pitcher Cesar Lopez for $600 K

Ben Badler of Baseball America reports on a signing from back in September that hasn’t been announced yet.  The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to terms with Cuban right handed pitcher Cesar Lopez for $600,000 in September.  The deal is still pending the result of Lopez getting his visa. The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed international right handed pitcher Leandro Rodriguez, according to the Dominican Prospect League website.  Rodriguez was signed out of the league for $80,000.
