Pirates sign six international prospects

According to Dejan Kovacevic, the Pittsburgh Pirates have signed six international prospects out of the Dominican Republic, pending age and identity investigations.  Those prospects are RHP Yunior Montero, LHP Cristian Hernandez, OF Miguel DeAza, SS Rodney Polonia, OF Yunior Valdez, and LHP Melvin Rosario. Pirates sign Wilfredo Ledezma and international free agents

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed left handed pitcher Wilfredo Ledezma to a minor league contract today.  Ledezma, who turns 29 in January, has spent parts of seven seasons in the majors, with a career 5.17 ERA, a 6.2 K/9 ratio, and a 4.4 BB/9 ratio.  Ledezma isn’t much of a LOOGY, with a career .292 BAA versus left handers in the majors, compared to a .274 BAA versus right handers.
