Pirates Make Francisco Liriano Deal Official

The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially announced the three-year contract for Francisco Liriano. The deal was agreed to three days ago and was just waiting on the physical. The 40-man roster is now full. The deal worth $39 M is the largest free agent deal in team history and will keep Liriano around through the 2017 season. Winter Leagues: Sam Kennelly Makes Debut in Australia, Julio Vivas Impressing in Venezuela

In Australia on Friday, Sam Kennelly made his season debut and went 0-for-2 before being pinch-hit for in the eighth inning. He played second base and handled all three chances in the field cleanly. I’m not sure that will be the case this year, since this has been a very active week, and there have been a lot of transactions this morning. Either way, the Dodgers will have to briefly abandon their plan of trading with every single MLB club at noon as all of the teams get together for the draft. For those of you who are unfamiliar...

First Pitch: Breaking Down the Antonio Bastardo Deal, and a Story on Joely Rodriguez

A little over four years ago I was driving up to Williamsport, PA on September 3rd, 2010. The minor league season was wrapping up, and I was finishing my second season running this site, and the first season where it was more of an overall look of the organization, rather than a close look at the Lynchburg Hillcats (who moved away to Bradenton that year) and a not-so-close look at every other level. I had this crazy idea to write a...
