Prospect Highlights: Speed From Gregory Polanco, Home Run From Mel Rojas Jr.

In yesterday’s highlights, we saw a double to the gap from Gregory Polanco, with him driving the ball the other way. He has great speed, but didn’t have to run hard to make it into second base. With that in mind, here is a little sample of Polanco showing off his speed. In Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to Scranton/WB, he had an RBI single in the ninth inning, followed by him stealing second base and making it rather easily....

First Pitch: Which Hitter Not Named Gregory Polanco Should Come Up?

Injuries have been the unfortunate theme for the Pirates’ minor league system this year. Their top pitching prospect, Jameson Taillon, went down for the season with Tommy John surgery. Several other top ten prospects, including Tyler Glasnow and Austin Meadows, have dealt with injuries this year. Most of the injuries are irrelevant in long-term considerations. Prospect Watch: Cumpton With a Strong Return; Rojas and Mathisen Homer

MLB Removes Several Podcasts From iTunes, Including P3

Yesterday I got an e-mail from Apple, said that the Pirates Prospects Podcast (P3) had been removed from iTunes. I assumed this was because I hadn’t uploaded a new podcast in a few months, and figured I would just re-submit the show when a new episode came out (which was coming in the next week or two). Today, Aaron Gleeman tweeted that his podcast, “Gleeman and The Geek” was removed from iTunes at the request of...

Andrew Lambo Placed on the Indianapolis Disabled List

Andrew Lambo has been placed on the Indianapolis disabled list, per an Indianapolis press release. Lambo has missed the last two games with a bruised thumb. His placement on the DL, which is seven days long in the minors, was back dated to May 5th. Lambo would have been a good option for a call up while the Pirates have an extra roster spot. Obviously he can’t be called up now. Even if he could, the Pirates are going with an...
