Altoona lost to the Richmond Flying Squirrels tonight by a score of 8-4, going down early with an 8-2 deficit after six innings.  Brett Sinkbeil took the loss, giving up all eight runs, with six earned, in 5.1 innings.  Here are the reports from the game. Zack Von Rosenberg, West Virginia Lose No Hitter in 9th

The West Virginia Power came one out away from their second no hitter in franchise history, when Zack Von Rosenberg and Zac Fuesser took a no hitter in to the ninth inning against the Delmarva Shorebirds.  Von Rosenberg led the outing with his best start of the year, throwing six perfect innings with six strikeouts.  It was the fifth time this year that Von Rosenberg has gone five or more shutout innings, with three of those outings...

Altoona Misses Chance for Sweep

Bowie avoided a sweep in the final game of a four-game series, beating Altoona 3-1. The Curve’s starter, Mike Colla, pitched well but had to battle through a series of defensive misplays by his teammates. Starling Marte had three hits in five at-bats, including a double, but the Curve went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and stranded ten overall. Irwin, Curve Continue Dominance Over Bowie Bats

Altoona’s pitching continued to shut down Bowie’s offense, giving the Curve their third straight road win over the Baysox, 2-0.  Phil Irwin threw seven shutout innings, allowing only four hits, walking none and fanning four.  The Curve got all their offense in the first when Andrew Lambo lined a 2-run HR far over the centerfield fence. State College Spikes Player Reports 8/31

State College got a great start from left hander Mike Jefferson tonight, who pitched five shutout innings.  They also got a solo homer from Alex Dickerson in the first inning, and took a 3-1 lead in to the ninth.  A two RBI triple by Batavia tied the game, on a bad read by center fielder Taylor Lewis, who went for an awkward dive and let the ball get past him and roll to center field.  The Spikes ended up taking the game in the bottom...
