They will play back-to-back doubleheaders on April 29th and 30th. Indianapolis is the only Pirates affiliate on the schedule today. All the other three teams have Sunday off and they will resume play on Monday. All four Pirates affiliates will play at home on Monday. Check out the Prospect Watch from last night. Jake Brigham will make his third start of the season today. In his first outing, he went six innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks. Brigham picked up nine strikeouts. In his second game, he went 4.1 innings, allowing four runs(three earned) on four hits and four walks, with seven strikeouts. Brigham has a 1.43 GO/AO ratio and a .214 BAA.

AA: Altoona (5-9) vs Harrisburg (4-10) 6:30pm 4/21

In his last outing, he went 4.2 innings, giving up one run on five hits and a walk. He has nine strikeouts and a 1.50 GO/AO ratio.

Brandon Cumpton will make his third start of the season tonight. In his season debut, he threw six scoreless innings. He came back and threw six innings against Toledo last Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out five batters. Cumpton has a 1.89 GO/AO ratio this year.

Tyler Sample will make his second start of the season tonight. He made his debut in relief, giving up one unearned run over three innings. In his lone start, Sample allowed two runs over four innings against Richmond. He has had control issues in the past and this season is no different early on. In seven innings, Sample has issued nine walks, though he has given up only three hits.

Casey Sadler will make his third start of the season. He was originally supposed to start on Monday, but this start was pushed back due to two consecutive rainouts and then Jeff Locke ended up going Wednesday. Sadler went six innings in his debut against Columbus, allowing one run on four hits and a walk, with three strikeouts. He lasted seven innings in his second game, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks, with five strikeouts. Sadler made 23 starts for Altoona and one late season start for Indianapolis last year. He threw a total of 136.1 innings, allowing 123 hits, 12 homers and 43 walks. He had 72 strikeouts, a 1.69 GO/AO ratio and a .244 BAA. In his lone Indianapolis start, Sadler allowed three earned runs over six innings.

Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 4, Palm Beach 0

Orlando Castro will make his third start of the season tonight. He went five innings in his debut, allowing three runs on four hits. In his last game, Castro threw six shutout innings. He has 11 strikeouts and hasn’t issued a walk this season. Castro has a 4.00 GO/AO ratio and a .225 BAA. In 108 innings last season, split between West Virginia and Bradenton, he had a 2.67 ERA and 84 strikeouts, while walking just 17 batters. He has pitched in the Pirates system since 2010 and has never walked more than 18 hitters in a season.

Felipe Gonzalez will make his first start since joining the Pirates organization. He was picked up from the New York Yankees in the minor league portion of the Rule V draft last December. Gonzalez has pitched three times in relief this year, throwing a total of eight innings. He has allowed two runs on four hits and one walk, while striking out ten batters.

Due to consecutive rainouts, Jeff Locke is current listed as the starter for Indianapolis, with Casey Sadler now listed for Thursday. Locke injured an oblique during Spring Training and missed the start of the season. He made one rehab start for Bradenton before being sent to Indianapolis. In that start, he went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk, while striking out ten batters. If Casey Sadler starts, he will make his third start of the season. He went six innings in his debut against Columbus, allowing one run on four hits and a walk, with three strikeouts. Sampson pitched for Bradenton last year, throwing a total of 140 innings over 25 starts and one relief appearance. He gave up 177 hits, 18 homers and 22 walks. He had 85 strikeouts, a 1.11 GO/AO ratio and a .310 BAA

John Kuchno will make his third start of the season tonight. He has had night and day results in his two outings. In his debut, Kuchno threw five no-hit innings. He allowed three walks and struck out two batters. In his second game, he lasted just 3.2 innings, giving up seven runs(six earned) on nine hits and one walk, with four strikeouts. All but one of his outs have been either by ground out or strikeout.

Buddy Borden will make his third start of the season tonight. He went four innings in his debut, allowing three runs on three hits, one homer and two walks, while striking out five batters. In his second start, Borden threw five shutout innings. He allowed six hits, one walk and struck out four batters. Cody Dickson will get the start in game two for West Virginia. He threw five shutout innings in his debut against Lexington, then six days later, Lexington scored six runs on ten hits in 4.2 innings against Dickson. Kuhl is a 21-year-old right-hander out of the University of Delaware .

He missed most of last year due to elbow surgery. Irwin made two starts for Indianapolis and one for the Pirates. He pitched this off-season in the Arizona Fall League, where he made five starts.
