Russell Martin Named the NL Player of the Week

Russell Martin has been named the National League player of the Week, Major League Baseball announced this afternoon. Martin hit for a .375 average and led the National League with four homers and a .958 slugging percentage. The catcher came up big over the weekend, hitting a game tying home run on Saturday, then two home runs on Sunday, the first of which gave the Pirates the only run they would have needed that day.

Is Jeff Locke Starting to Figure Things Out?

Don’t look now, but Jeff Locke has a 2.83 ERA in 28.2 innings so far this year in the majors. That number is probably too low for his actual skills.
