Rodriguez Designated for Assignment, Ciriaco Recalled

Following up on the waiver claim of Brandon Wood, the Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Josh Rodriguez for assignment, and have recalled Pedro Ciriaco, the team announced today.  As Colin Dunlap mentions, Ciriaco is likely up just to fill the roster spot until Wood arrives with the team. As for Rodriguez, he will be placed on waivers.  If he clears waivers, the Pirates have to offer him back to the Cleveland Indians.  They can try to...

Pirates Claim Brandon Wood

The Pirates have claimed Wood. According to Ken Rosenthal, the Pittsburgh Pirates have claimed Brandon Wood.  The move is not unexpected, as earlier this morning Colin Dunlap mentioned that the Pirates were certain to make a claim on the former Angels’ top prospect. Boyer is 29, and was recently released by the New York Mets,...

Chris Snyder Activated, Jason Jaramillo Demoted

After tonight’s game, the Pittsburgh Pirates activated Chris Snyder from the disabled list, and demoted Jason Jaramillo to Indianapolis.  I tweeted earlier today that Snyder’s rehab work had ended, which meant the move back to the majors was set to come. With Snyder back in the mix, Ryan Doumit should move to the bench as the backup.  Doumit could steal some time from Snyder, if only to build up some trade value.  He...
