Minor Moves: Alex Fuselier, Erik Turgeon

Two roster updates from minor league camp today. Alex Fuselier and Erik Turgeon have both retired. Fuselier was a 21st round pick in 2011, and spent the last two years in short season A-ball. Turgeon was signed in the middle of the year last year to provide depth in Bradenton. He turns 26 later this month, and is the son of Jamestown Jammers manager Dave Turgeon.

Pirates Cut 11 Players, Including Jameson Taillon

The Pittsburgh Pirates have made their first cuts of Spring Training. So far they have cut four players today, with those players being Hunter Strickland, Vic Black, Matt Hague, and Clint Robinson. The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed right-handed pitcher Jose Contreras on a minor league deal, with an invitation to Spring Training. He will report to Pirates training camp on Sunday. Hurdle Officially Extended Through 2014

The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially confirmed the news we heard yesterday about the contract extension for manager Clint Hurdle. He is now signed through the 2014 season and the club holds an option for the 2015 season. His contract was due to expire at the end of this year.
