Yesterday we saw MLB Trade Rumors list their top 50 free agents, with predictions that the Pittsburgh Pirates would sign Carlos Pena, Ramon Hernandez, and Jeff Francis.  Today, Sports Illustrated released a list of their top 50 free agents, noting the best fit for each player.  They listed two players as “best fits” for the Pirates. The official Elias rankings have been released, and as expected, the Pittsburgh Pirates have four players who qualify as Type B free agents.  The four players are Ryan Doumit, Chris Snyder, Derrek Lee, and Ryan Ludwick. Pirates Decline All Four Club Options

The Pittsburgh Pirates have officially announced that they’ve declined the club options for Ronny Cedeno, Ryan Doumit, Chris Snyder, and Paul Maholm.  We heard earlier that Maholm and Snyder would be officially declined.  The only move that comes as a surprise is Cedeno, who had a $3 M option with a $200 K buyout, and played strong defense this year.
