Chris Snyder to the DL, Wyatt Toregas Called Up

As expected, the Pittsburgh Pirates have placed Chris Snyder on the 15-day disabled list, and have purchased the contract of catcher Wyatt Toregas from AAA.  Earlier today we heard that Toregas had been removed from the Indianapolis roster, replaced by Kris Watts. Kyle McPherson Promoted to Altoona

The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted right handed pitching prospect Kyle McPherson to Altoona, according to Cory Giger of the Altoona Mirror.  Giger notes that McPherson will make his debut on Friday. McPherson had a great year with the Bradenton Marauders, with a 2.89 ERA in 71.2 innings, along with a 60:6 K/BB ratio.  This follows a year where he posted a 3.59 ERA in 117.2 innings in West Virginia, with a 124:31 K/BB ratio....

Tony Watson Recalled, Jose Ascanio DFAd

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recalled left handed pitcher Tony Watson, adding a second left hander to the bullpen.  To make room, the Pirates designated right hander Jose Ascanio for assignment. The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted Matt Curry to Altoona, Pirates Prospects has learned.  Curry, a left handed first baseman who was drafted in the 16th round of the 2010 draft, makes the jump from West Virginia, skipping over high-A Bradenton. So far this season, Curry has a .361/.477/.671 line in 155 at-bats in West Virginia, with nine homers, 15 doubles, and three triples.  His plate patience was amazing, with a 29:35 K/BB ratio....
