Pirates Sign Andy Marte and Two Others

The Pittsburgh Pirates signed three players to minor league free agent deals today.  Those players are third baseman Andy Marte, right handed pitcher Fernando Nieve, and catcher Dusty Brown. Pirates Trade Duke to Arizona

The Zach Duke era with the Pittsburgh Pirates is officially over.  After designating the left handed starter for assignment on Friday, the Pirates traded Duke to the Arizona Diamondbacks for a player to be named later. According to Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic, the Diamondbacks aren’t likely to tender an arbitration offer to Duke, and basically traded for him to try and negotiate a deal prior to the non-tender deadline....

Pirates Add Five, DFA Duke, LaRoche, Delwyn

The Pittsburgh Pirates have added five players to the 40-man roster to protect them from the upcoming Rule 5 draft, and designated Zach Duke, Andy LaRoche, and Delwyn Young for assignment.  The five players added were Jeff Locke, Daniel Moskos, Tony Watson, Kyle McPherson, and as reported here earlier, Michael Crotta. Michael Crotta to be Added to 40-Man?
