The Pittsburgh Pirates optioned right-handed reliever Daniel McCutchen to Triple-A Indianapolis to make room on the active roster for Chad Qualls. Qualls was acquired from the New York Yankees yesterday for first baseman Casey McGehee. McCutchen was recalled on Tuesday but did not make a relief appearance.
