I don’t know what kind of analysis goes into figuring this stuff out, but it doesn’t pass either the eye or smell test. Not when Cutch converts more “impossible”, “difficult” and “50/50″ plays than most other CFs. Maybe he needs to move in a bit late in games. His arm isn’t great, we know that. But I’m not inclined to move him out of CF. You?

Comment on First Pitch: The Lack of Moves Isn’t the Big Problem It’s Made Out to Be by piraddict http://www.piratesprospects.com/2014/09/first-pitch-the-lack-of-moves-isnt-the-big-problem-its-made-out-to-be.html#comment-62064 Sat, 06 Sep 2014 16:57:00 +0000 http://www.piratesprospects.com/?p=87696#comment-62064 Apparently Grilli was let let go as a clubhouse management move because he wasn’t taking his demotion well. I can understand that, though it didn’t work out well performance wise between Grilli and Frieri.

Comment on Austin Meadows Was Impressive in His Short Time With West Virginia by piraddict http://www.piratesprospects.com/2014/09/austin-meadows-was-impressive-in-his-short-time-with-west-virginia.html#comment-62063 Sat, 06 Sep 2014 16:12:00 +0000 http://www.piratesprospects.com/?p=87699#comment-62063 Interesting Andrew, but the baseballprospectus report seems overly critical to me. Are there outfielders in Meadows’ draft class that they rank significantly better than Meadows?

Then is it the Pirates Organization’s ” fault ” that Martin leaves ? Your oversimplification is outstanding.

Huntington talked about this last Sunday. The Bucs have a staff of middle to bottom of the rotation guys but they do not have a Kershaw or Wainwright. Last year they had several guys perform for stretches at TOR level. As a result, the Bucs have 3 shutouts – the Cards have something like 18. It is pretty hard to lose a game when the other team does not score.

Who has a DRS of -7 for the year. Since there are just 15 NL teams I don’t think it is “ignorant” to call him out as awful.

Factless and ignorant comment. Then you go on to try to find a way this offense isnt one of the 2 best in the NL. This team has a great offense, an up and down rotation and a shaky bullpen.

Comment on Austin Meadows Was Impressive in His Short Time With West Virginia by Andrew http://www.piratesprospects.com/2014/09/austin-meadows-was-impressive-in-his-short-time-with-west-virginia.html#comment-62057 Sat, 06 Sep 2014 02:34:00 +0000 http://www.piratesprospects.com/?p=87699#comment-62057 This report questions his ability to play center-field, saying he has a left field arm.

The major concern is his projected inability to stick in center field, an issue that will be detrimental to his overall value. He should possess the athleticism to be able to handle the position on a part-time basis, but left field should be the full-time destination at the highest level.
