WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
Villamar throws a mid-90s fastball and a good curve, but has trouble finding the strike zone.
2014 Villamar had a rough first season, pitching strictly in relief. 2015 The Pirates sent Villamar back to the DSL where he continued pitching in relief. He had a much better season. Opponents batted only .189 against him and slugged just .223, and he fanned well over a batter an inning, but he walked nearly a batter an inning. 2016 Villamar pitched out of the bullpen in the GCL, walking more than a batter an inning. The Pirates could try Villamar at Bristol, but he’d probably need to improve his control first. |
