WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
A four-year starter at Georgia Tech, Peurifoy had his best season as a senior in 2017, hitting 295/366/465 with 11 doubles and seven homers. His strikeout rate also declined sharply and his walk rate doubled from his junior season. Peurifoy never put up stolen base numbers in his four season, attempting a total of 13 in 209 games, which is extremely low for college. That makes it surprising that he was announced as a center fielder, where he played 51 games last year. He was announced as Christopher, but he goes by the name Ryan.
2017 Peurifoy divided his time between center and right at Bristol. He hit fairly well, although as a college draftee he’d be expected to be more advanced than much of the competition at that level. 2018 Peurifoy opened 2018 at West Virginia and spent the season there, other than filling in briefly at Bradenton twice late in the season. He never got going with the bat, with his best monthly batting average being .228 in July. He spent half his time in center and split the rest between the corners. Peurifoy will back up somewhere in class A in 2019. |
