The 2011 Arizona Fall League begins today, with the Mesa Solar Sox playing their first game at 12:35 PM MST (3:35 PM EST).  The Pittsburgh Pirates have seven players on the Solar Sox this year.  Jarek Cunningham, Brock Holt, and Robbie Grossman will represent the Pirates on the offensive side of the game, while Gerrit Cole, Nathan Baker, Michael Colla, and Phil Irwin will all join the Mesa pitching staff. Arizona Fall League Rosters Announced

The Arizona Fall League announced their rosters today, with two Pittsburgh Pirates being named to the Mesa Solar Sox.  Those players are Robbie Grossman and Brock Holt.  The Pirates are expected to name several other players to the AFL, and they can name up to four pitchers, so this list has yet to be completed. The Bradenton Marauders Offense – Is it the park or the players?

As we head into the final week of minor league baseball, the Bradenton Marauders hitters are comfortably leading the Florida State League in both batting average and OPS. They are also leading the league in runs scored and 3rd in homers. What I’m wondering though is if McKechnie Field is assisting in this offensive outburst or if the Marauders just have a great group of talented hitters.
