The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted pitching prospect Jeff Locke from Bradenton to Altoona.  Locke tweeted a message saying he was headed North earlier tonight, and after an inquiry on the message, I received confirmation that Locke had been promoted to Altoona. The Pittsburgh Pirates have released right handed pitcher Jimmy Barthmaier, according to Rob Biertempfel.  Barthmaier had been pitching in AA this season, returning from Tommy John surgery.
