Two Players At Each Level Who Should Be Promoted

Dana Eveland Designated for Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Dana Eveland for assignment, and are expected to make two additions to the 25-man roster today.  The Pirates acquired Eveland at the start of June, after being designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays.  Pittsburgh traded relief pitching prospect Ronald Uviedo for 23 days of Eveland’s service. Dana EvelandWith today’s DFA of Dana Eveland, a trade that appeared suspect at the time now looks even worse. Essentially, the Pirates traded Ronald Uviedo for three non-descript appearances by Eveland. It seems like they simply threw away a minor asset.
