A few afternoon notes… -The Pirates activated starting pitcher Ross Ohlendorf from the 15-day disabled list today, which was expected since Ohlendorf starts tonight against the Reds.  To make room on the active roster, the Pirates designated reliever Brian Bass for assignment.  Bass is out of options, which is why he couldn’t be sent down.  The Pirates will have ten days to waive, trade, or release Bass....
