Interview with Jason Townsend

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Jason Townsend in the 31st round of the 2010 MLB draft, selecting him as a junior from the University of Alabama.  Townsend went to State College, where he served as the closer for the Spikes.  He works with a mid-90s fastball, and was recently named by Baseball America as being the best late round pick for the Pirates in the 2010 draft.  John Dreker of Pirates Prospects recently had a chance to sit down...

Some minor moves this afternoon… -Eliecer Navarro has been promoted from State College to West Virginia.  The left hander pitched 8.2 innings with State College this year, putting up a 1.04 ERA, and an 11:1 K/BB ratio.  Navarro, 22, spent the 2009 season in the Gulf Coast League, putting up a 3.77 ERA in 31 innings, with a 6.7 K/9 and a 1.7 BB/9 ratio. -Jason Townsend and Casey Sadler have officially...
