Latimore, Locke, and Krol Shine In Florida State League All-Star Game

Eight members of the Bradenton Marauders were initially named to the 2010 Florida State League South Division All-Star squad:

Pitchers Bryan Morris, Jeff Locke, Nate Adcock, and Noah Krol

Catcher Tony Sanchez

Infielders Brock Holt and Jeremy Farrell

Outfielder Quincy Latimore

Morris has been promoted to AA Altoona, so he wasn't going to be able to play. Sanchez and Holt are injured, so they are unavailable. Nate Adcock was also unavailable and was replaced. That leaves Locke, Krol, Farrell, and Latimore.

South All-Stars 5, North All-Stars 4 (box)

Quincy Latimore was the starting centerfielder for the visiting South team. He got the game started with a single up the middle. 2B Josh Satin (St. Lucie) also singled, moving Latimore to second base. A ground out by C Tony Cruz (Palm Beach) advanced both runners one base, and another ground out by 3B Henry Wrigley (Charlotte) brought in Latimore with the game's first run.

Jeff Locke pitched the bottom of the 2nd for the South. He retired the North batters in order, on a pop out, a called strikeout, and a ground out.

The North took the lead in the 3rd, when they began the inning with three straight hits: a double, and two singles, driving in one run. A grounder force out by C Travis d'Arnaud (Altoona's Chase d'Arnaud's brother) brought in the second run of the inning, to give the North a 2-1 lead. The South tied the game again in the 5th inning, when DH Xavier Scruggs (Palm Beach) led off with a solo home run over the right field wall.

Noah Krol pitched the bottom of the 6th inning. He started with a ground out, then walked a batter. That runner was quickly eliminated with a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning.

The North broke the tie in the 7th. Two singles, a fielding error, a stolen base, and an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out. A grounder to third looked like it was going to be an inning-ending double play, but a throwing error by the second baseman Satin allowed two runs to score, and the North led 4-2.

The South got the 2 runs right back in the top of the 8th, as Josh Satin redeemed himself with a 2-run homer following a lead-off single by LF Richard Racobaldo (Palm Beach). With the score tied again, the South managed only a walk in the top of the 9th. The North had a batter reach base in the bottom of the inning on a passed ball on strike three. That batter was caught stealing moments later, and the game headed into extra innings.

Quincy Latimore led off the 10th by beating out an infield single to short. Latimore stole second base, and scored on a single into right by Satin. Two more singles loaded the bases with one out, but Scruggs bounced into a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. They had the slim lead, though, and all that remained was for reliever Zachary Quate (Charlotte) to zip through the bottom of the 10th, with two strikeouts and the game-ending ground out. Quate earned a save, and 9th inning pitcher Josh Satow (Charlotte) was credited with the win.

Latimore had two of the South's 14 hits and scored two of the team's runs. He also struck out twice, in the 3rd and the 6th innings. C Stephen Vogt also had 2 hits, while both Josh Satin and Xavier Scruggs had 3 hits each for the South squad.

Altoona Is No-Hit Victim in Night Cap

Game 1: Altoona Curve 3, Harrisburg Senators 2 (box)

The Curve got the evening off to a good start in the first of two 7-inning games, as they made up for the rain-out on Wednesday. C Kris Watts led the offense with 2 hits and SS Chase d'Arnaud drove in 2 of the Curve runs.

Harrisburg scored first, with a run in the 2nd inning on two singles, a wild pitch by Altoona starter Tim Alderson, and a sacrifice fly. The Curve tried to respond in the bottom of the inning, when Watts and LF Anthony Norman both singled, and Alderson walked to load the bases. All three were left on base when a line out ended the inning. But the Curve got the job done in the 4th inning. RF Alex Presley led off by beating out a bunt for a single. Watts lined another single into left field. 3B Shelby Ford dropped down a sacrifice bunt, and when the Harrisburg third baseman threw wide of first base for an error, Presley raced around to score, leaving Watts on third and Ford on second. An intentional walk to Norman brought up Alderson, who flied out for the first out of the inning. Then d'Arnaud ripped a line drive into left field, scoring both Watts and Ford. The Curve came close to getting another run, when CF Gorkys Hernandez flied out to right field, but instead of that being a sacrifice fly, Norman was thrown out at the plate after tagging up.

Alderson gave up another run in the top of the 5th, on a single, a stolen base, and another single. He pitched a total of 6 innings and allowed those 2 runs on 7 hits and a walk, with 3 strikeouts. Alderson earned his 5th win of the season, giving him a 5-2 record. Danny Moskos earned his 14th save of the season by pitching a perfect 7th inning.

Game 2: Senators 1, Curve 0 (box)

The second game was another story. SS Chase d'Arnaud led off the bottom of the 1st with a walk. He was immediately erased when CF Gorkys Hernandez bounced into a double play. And that was it. No more Curve base runners, no hits, no more walks, no one reaching on an error or being hit by a pitch. Just another 19 outs, 21 all together (it was a 7-inning game, as part of the double-header). Harrisburg starter Chuck James pitched 5 innings and struck out 7, including striking out 6 Curve batters in a row in the 3rd and 4th innings. Reliever Cole Kimball pitched a perfect 6th including 2 more strikeouts. Reliever Zech Zinicola pitched the 7th, another perfect inning with two strikeouts.

And, as if that weren't bad enough -- it was even worse for Curve starter Rudy Owens. He pitched 7 innings and allowed only one run on 7 hits, no walks, with one strikeout, and still suffered the loss (his 3rd of the season). Owens worked around a single in the 2nd and a double in the 3rd to keep the game scoreless. He gave up a double and hit a batter in the 4th, but still did not allow a run. Harrisburg's only run came in the 5th, with 2 outs, on 3 consecutive singles. Owens allowed one more single in the 6th, then removed that base runner with a double play. Jimmy Barthmaier pitched a scoreless 7th inning, also allowing just one single and also eliminating that threat with a double play.

Leach Pitches Well In Marauders’ Loss

The Altoona Curve and the Harrisburg Senators were rained out tonight. They will play a double header on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 pm.

The West Virginia Power have a scheduled day off today.

That leaves just the Marauders:

Fort Myers Miracle 3, Bradenton Marauders 2 (box)

A late-inning rally by the Miracle broke the 2-2 tie, and the Marauders could not answer back. Starter Brian Leach pitched 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. The Miracle got onto the scoreboard first, scoring both of their runs in the 2nd inning. The frame opened with three consecutive singles, loading the bases. A grounder to 3B Jeremy Farrell produced a force out at second base, but one run scored, and the Marauders could not complete a double play. Another grounder to third drove in a second run, and gave the Marauders another out at second base. Leach hit the next batter with a pitch, and then got a strikeout to end the inning.

Those were the only hits Leach allowed. He retired the side in order in the 1st and 3rd innings. He hit another batter in the 4th, but then erased him with a double play. He gave up a walk in each of the 5th and 6th innings, but had one get caught stealing second, and then just left the other on base.

The Marauders' bats were not scoring runs over the first four innings. SS Greg Picart opened the game with a single, but was left on base. Both LF Quincy Latimore and 2B James Skelton walked in the 2nd, but a double play ended that inning. Both DH Tony Sanchez and 1B Calvin Anderson singled in the 4th, but were also left in scoring position. This was Sanchez's first game back in the lineup after being hit in the head by a pitch last week.

C Andrew Walker put Bradenton onto the scoreboard in the 5th inning with a solo home run over the left field wall. Picart followed the homer with a walk, then stole second base. He scored on 3B Jeremy Farrell's RBI double, tying the score at 2-2.

Tom Boleska relieved Leach to begin the 7th inning. He gave up back-to-back singles with one out, then threw a wild pitch that allowed the runners to move up to second and third bases. A walk loaded the bases, and another single drove in the go-ahead run. CF Austin McClune and Walker kept another run from scoring with an on-target throw in from center field and a tag at the plate.

The Marauders were not able to answer that run. After their run-scoring 5th inning, the next 12 Bradenton batters were retired in order. Ramon Aguero pitched the 9th inning for the Marauders and he also put them down in order.

Cunningham, Noris, and Baker Homer in Power Loss

Some early games today in the lower minors:

Asheville Tourists 11, West Virginia Power 5 (box)

All of the Power's scoring was done with home runs today, and even that wasn't enough to catch up to Asheville. They did not score at all in the first 6 innings, despite getting a reasonable number of runners on base -- 2 walks to CF Evan Chambers and DH Kyle Morgan, onewalk to C Pat Irvine, two doubles by Chambers and one by LF Rogelios Noris, a single by 2B Jarek Cunningham.

The Power were behind 7-0 going into the top of the 8th, when they finally got some runs. Noris walked, and 1B Aaron Baker blasted his 7th home run of the season to put the Power onto the scoreboard. They added 3 more runs in the 9th, when SS Benji Gonzalez doubled, then Cunningham and Noris smacked back-to-back home runs. That was not nearly enough, though.

Nate Baker pitched 5 innings in his start for the Power, and he allowed 5 runs on 6 hits and a walk. A single, a wild pitch, and two ground outs brought in the first Asheville run in the 1st inning. Two singles, a double, a triple, a wild pitch, and a double steal all contributed to bring in 3 runs in the 2nd. Another triple plus a sacrifice fly added a run in the 5th, and the Tourists had a 5-0 lead. Gabriel Alvarado relieved Baker to begin the 6th inning. He retired the side in order, for the first time in the game, in the 6th, but then gave up 2 more runs in the 7th, on a single, an RBI double, a walk, and two more singles. Jhonatan Ramos took over on the mound in the 8th, and he got into trouble quickly, as the first four batters reached base safely -- double, single, walk, and double. The double plated 2 runs, and after two outs, another double drove in 2 more runs, and the Marauders were down 11-2. Not even a 9th inning rally could change their fate.

Losses At All Levels

The Indy Indians lost today, as did all of the other affiliates who were playing -- the Power also won, splitting a double header.

Tomorrow MLB will hold the 2010 Draft... stay tuned!

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5, Altoona Curve 3 (box)

Like yesterday, the Curve had an early 3-run inning to take the lead, but also like yesterday, they gave up runs in the late innings and lost to the Fisher Cats. And like the Indy Indians today, the Curve faced a former teammate -- Ronald Uviedo, who was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays last week, made the start for the Fisher Cats. Uviedo was a reliever while pitching for the Curve, so he will need to get stretched out -- he was limited to just 3 innings today. Uviedo retired his old mates in order in the 1st inning, but gave up two walks, to LF Alex Presley and DH Jim Negrych in the 2nd. The walks were followed by a booming home run by RF Miles Durham, to give the Curve 3 runs. Uviedo also walked 3B Josh Harrison in the 3rd inning, but left him on base.

Jared Hughes had the start for the Curve. He begin the bottom of the 1st inning with three straight singled, loading the bases with no outs. A grounder to short for a force out at second brought in one run, but they did not get a double play. Instead, Hughes struck out the next batter and ended the inning with an easy grounder to first.

That 3-1 score held for the next 5 innings. Counting those three outs after the three singles in the 1st, Hughes retired 17 Fisher Cats batters in order, taking him to the 6th inning with two outs. That's when he loaded the bases again, on a single, a walk, and a single, before bearing down to get out of the jam with a fly out.

After Uviedo finished the 3rd inning, the Curve got a walk by C Hector Gimenez in the 4th, and SS Chase d'Arnaud was hit by a pitch in the 5th, but neither scored. They came close in the 6th, when Josh Harrison led off with a double. A passed ball had Harrison moving, but he was caught in a run-down on the third base line, and eventually tagged out.

New Hampshire added a run in the bottom of the 7th off reliever Tony Watson. A double and two ground outs did the trick, and the Curve lead was cut to 3-2. The Curve got the run back right away, when d'Arnaud led off the top of the 8th with a triple, then scored on a wild pitch. Two more Curve batters got on base in the inning, with a walk to CF Gorkys Hernandez and 1B Matt Hague being hit by a pitch, but a double play ended the inning without further runs scoring.

The Fisher Cats did their damage in the bottom of the 8th. With Watson still on the mound, a double and a ground out put a base runner on third. Jimmy Barthmaier relieved Watson, but he walked the only batter he faced. Danny Moskos came on next, and he gave up an RBI single to tie the game. A throwing error on the play moved the runners to second and third base. Another single drove in both runners to give the Fisher Cats the winning run plus an insurance run. The Curve tried to rally in the 9th, when Gimenez walked and Negrych singled, but two strikeouts ended the game.

Presley and Harrison Spark Curve and Farrell’s Homer Boosts Marauders

Altoona Curve 5, New Britain Rock Cats 4 (box)

A 2-2 tie brought on a busy 10th inning for the Curve and the Rock Cats, but it was the Curve who came out on top. Tony Watson had pitched two scoreless innings in the 8th and the 9th, and he was still the pitcher of record in the 10th inning.

RF/LF Alex Presley openedthe 10th inning with a solo home run over the right field wall to break the tie. Two outs later, SS Chase d'Arnaud singled into left field, and CF Gorkys Hernandez followed with another single through the hole into left field. A wild pitch moved both runners into scoring position for 3B Josh Harrison, who came through with a liner into left, scoring both d'Arnaud and Hernandez on the single. The Curve had a 5-2 lead.

Reliever Danny Moskos and Harrison made things interesting in the bottom of the inning. With two outs, Harrison made a fielding error on a ball off the bat of RF Mark Dolenc, extending the inning. A single by DH Rene Tosoni (remember him from Team USA?) and a fielding error by Hernandez in center field brought in Dolenc and put a Tosoni on third. 1B Erik Lis singled into center, scoring Tosoni and making it a one-run game. A passed ball by C Hector Gimenez moved Lis to second base, but Moskos ended the game with a fly out. Moskos earned his lucky 13th save, and Watson earned his second win.

Presley, Hernandez, Gimenez, and Presley each had 2 hits in the game, with 2 RBI by Presley and 3 RBI by Harrison. The Curve's first run came in the top of the 1st, on a double by d'Arnaud, a throwing error on a pick-off attempt that put d'Arnaud to third base, and an RBI grounder by Harrison. Singles by 1B Matt Hague, Gimenez, and Presley added another run in the 4th.

Starter Tim Alderson pitched 6 innings and allowed one run on 5 hits and 2 walks. The run came on a solo homer by Erik Lis to lead off the 2nd inning. The Rock Cats added two more singles in that inning, but those two runners did not come around to score. Alderson also gave up singles in the 3rd and the 5th innings, but Gimenez threw out both runners trying to steal second base.

Jimmy Barthmaier made his first AA rehab start, but it did not go as well as he'd hoped. He gave up a walk and a single, then got a sacrifice bunt. Another single drove in the tying run, and that was all for Barthmaier. Tony Watson came in to finish the inning. He got CF Ben Revere to line right to Harrison at third base, who then doubled the runner off third for a double play.

Wins for Alderson and Baker, Three Hits For Rubinstein

Saturday night in the lower minor leagues:

Altoona Curve 7, Reading Phillies 3 (box)

Four runs in the 4th inning gave the Curve the edge and propelled starter Tim Alderson to his 4th win of the season. Alderson pitched 6 innings and allowed just one run on 4 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 5 batters.

The Curve scored a run in the bottom of the 1st, on a lead-off walk by SS Chase d'Arnaud, singles by CF Gorkys Hernandez and 3B Josh Harrison, and a grounder by 1B Matt Hague that became a double play (no RBI for Hague). The Phillies' run came in the 2nd inning. Former Indy Indian 3B Tagg Bozied began the inning with a single, and went to second on a wild pitch. A walk and a grounder put Bozied on third base, and another single drove Bozied across the plate to tie the score.

The big 4th inning began with a single by LF Alex Presley. A passed ball put Presley on second. After a walk by RF Miles Durham, Alderson dropped down a sacrifice bunt that went for a fielder's choice as Presley made it to third base before the throw. With the bases loaded, Chase d'Arnaud walked, forcing in Presley with the go-ahead run. Gorkys Hernadez's sacrifice fly plated Durham, and Josh Harrison's double into right field scored both Alderson and d'Arnaud.

C Hector Gimenez blasted his third home run in three games with a 2-run shot in the 7th, following a single by Hague.

Alderson allowed 2 hits and 2 walks over the last 4 innings he pitched. Jack Taschner, with the Curve on a rehab assignment, pitched the 7th inning. He retired the first two batters, then gave up a single, a walk, and an RBI single for one run. The inning ended on a pop out.

Mike Dubee pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the 8th. Danny Moskos pitched the 9th, and allowed a run on two singles, a hit batter, and a sacrifice fly.

Josh Harrison and Alex Presley each had a double and a single for the Curve, and both Harrison and Gimenez contributed 2 RBI.

3 Hits For Hernandez and Sanchez

Altoona Curve 7, Reading Phillies 1 (box)

Justin Wilson pitched 5 scoreless innings to earn his third win, and CF Gorkys Hernandez had 3 hits to lead the Curve over the R-Phils on Friday evening.

The Curve jumped out to an early lead with 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. SS Chase d'Arnaud led off with his second triple of the season. He scored on Hernandez's double. 2B Josh Harrison was hit by a pitch and 1B Matt Hague walked to load the bases. 3B Jordy Mercer was also hit by a pitch, forcing in another run. LF Alex Presley bounced into a double play, erasing Mercer, but Harrison scored (no RBI). A passed ball allowed Hague to score, and the Curve were ahead 4-0. The Curve added another run in the 2nd inning, when d'Arnaud beat out an infield single to third base, stole second, then came around to score on Hernandez's second double of the game.

Hernandez did not get a hit in the 5th, but instead he led off the inning with a walk. Back-to-back singles by Harrison and Hague loaded the bases with no outs. Mercer grounded to third, where former Indy Indian Tagg Bozied made the play to force out Hernandez at the plate, leaving the bases still loaded. Another pair of back-to-back singles, by Presley and RF Miles Durham brought in a run each.

Hernandez picked up his third hit, a single, in the 8th inning, but was out in a force play. Presley also doubled in the 7th inning.

Justin Wilson gave up just 2 hits and a walk in his 5 innings. Tagg Bozied singled to open the 2nd inning, but was erased in a double play. Wilson gave up the other single and the walk in the 3rd inning, but two strikeouts left those runners stranded. Wilson retired the last 8 batters he faced.

Dustin Molleken relieved Wilson to begin the 6th inning. He allowed a double in the 6th but did not let the runner score. He loaded the bases with three singles (another to Bozied) in the 7th, but two strikeouts and a fly out got Molleken out of the inning without a run scoring. Ronald Uviedo pitched 2 innings, and allowed the R-Phils' only run in the 8th, on a walk and two singles.

Reliever Diego Moreno, who was recently promoted to Altoona from Bradenton, has been placed on the DL with right rotator cuff strain. The Pirates are sending reliever Jack Taschner, who has been on the DL with left hamstring issues, is going to be joining the Curve for a rehab assignment.

Triple Play For Curve; Barthmaier’s Season Debut

Akron Aeros 5, Altoona Curve 2 (box)

The Curve turned the second double play in their history today, in an early game in Akron. In the 6th inning, with reliever Derek Hankins on the mound,Akron's LF Cristo Arnal led off with a single, and former Curve and Indy Indian C Miguel Perez was hit by a pitch. CF John Drennen lined right to SS Chase d'Arnaud, who made the catch, quickly stepped on second base, and fired to Matt Hague atfirst base for the third out. (The first triple play by the Curve came on May 3, 2001 at home in Altoona, against the Harrisburg Senators. It was a 2-6-3 play: C JR House to SS Shaun Skrehot to 1B Chris Peterson.)

Unfortunately, the triple play could not make up for a lack of offense, as the Curve batters managed only 4 hits and 2 runs in the game, ending their 8-game winning streak. After going down in order over the first two innings, the Curve scored both of their runs in the 3rd inning, with the help of three Akron errors. C Kris Watts led off with a double. DH Miles Durham singled into center field, moving Watts to third, and Durham moved up to second base when the Aeros' first baseman missed the catch on the throw in from the outfield for an error. The second error occurred on d'Arnaud's ball to second base, and it let both Watts and Durham score, as d'Arnaud was safe on first. 2B Josh Harrison also reached base on an error, advancing d'Arnaud to third base, but they did not advance further before the inning ended.

After two more 1-2-3 innings, the Curve put two runners on base in the 6th, on CF Gorkys Hernandez's single, and Hague being hit by a pitch. They were also both left on base. Altoona loaded the bases in the 7th on walks to Watts and Durham, and d'Arnaud being hit by a pitch, but two strikeouts ended that threat. The last Curve hit was by LFJose De Los Santos in the 9th, who was also left stranded.

Jared Hughes made the start for the Curve. He gave up one run in the bottom of the 1st inning, on a lead-off double, a ground out, and a sacrifice fly. He gave up singles in both the 2nd and 3rd innings, but erased both runners with a double plays, one started by d'Arnaud (6-4-3) and one started by Hague at first base (3-6-1).

Hughes could not get out of a jam in the 4th inning, though. A walk, a wild pitch, and two singles led off the inning and brought in one run. Hughes got two outs, but then gave up back-to-back doubles, bringing in three more runs. Hughes exited having allowed 5 runs on 8 hits and a walk over 3.2 innings. Derek Hankins finished the 4th inning, then pitched 4 more scoreless innings, scattering 3 hits, 2 walks, and the hit batter.

Gimenez And Brito Homer Two Days In A Row; Morris Wins #2 For Curve

The Indianapolis Indians had a scheduled off day on Wednesday, but the rest of the minor league organization was going strong, beginning with an early game in West Virginia:

Lexington Legends 5, West Virginia Power 4 (box)

The Power and the Legends played a late-morning game for the second time in two days. Today, though, it was the Legends who came out on top, scoring 5 runs on 10 hits, and breaking a 4-4 tie with a run in the top of the 8th. The Power scored their 4 runs on only 5 hits.

2B Elevys Gonzalez recorded 3 hits in the game, and he put the Power onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the 1st inning, with a 2-run homer following a walk by CF Evan Chambers. Lexington tied the score in the top of the 3rd with two runs on a single and two doubles. Both Elevys Gonzalez and SS Benji Gonzalez took the lead back again in the bottom of the inning. Benji walked and advanced to second base on a balk. Elevys singled, moving Benji to third base. Both Gonzalezes executed a double steal, with Benji stealing home to break the tie. Walks to 1B Aaron Baker and C Ramon Cabrera loaded the bases, but the Power could not push another run across.

Power starter Jason Erickson had kept the Legends from scoring in the 4th and 5th innings, but in the 6th, he gave up a solo homer to tie the score. He walked the next batter after the home run, and was relieved at that point by Gabriel Alvarado. Alvarado gave up back-to-back singles to the first two runners he faced, and the batter Erickson had put on base came around to score, giving the Legends a 4-3 lead.

3B Jesus Brito homered for the second time in two days to lead off the 7th inning and tie the score again, at 4-4. But in the top of the 8th, with Zach Foster on the mound, two singles and a fielding error by RF David Rubinstein put runners on second and third bases. An RBI ground out brought the go-ahead run across the plate.

The Power had a chance to tie the score again in the 8th, when Baker walked, then moved to second base on a passed ball. Cabrera's single brought Baker racing around third base and heading for the plate, but he was thrown out by the Legends' left fielder. Rubinstein got as far as third base in the 9th inning, on a walk, a stolen base, and a ground out, but that inning ended before he could go any further.

Elevys Gonzalez also singled in the 5th inning, but was erased in a double play. Foster was charged with the loss, his first of the season.

Curve Win Lucky 7th Straight; Krol Earns Lucky 13th Save;

Altoona Curve 5, Akron Aeros 3 (box)

Rudy Owens earned his 4th win of the season, as the Curve won their 7th straight game and moved to 4 games ahead of second-place Richmond in the Eastern League's Western Division.SS Chase d'Arnaud belted 3 hits and four Curve batters had 2 hits each, including a homer by C Hector Gimenez.

After two quiet innings by both teams, LF Alex Presley opened the 3rd inning with an infield single, and Gimenez homered to give the Curve a 2-0 lead. The Aeros got one run back in the bottom of the inning. LF John Drennen led off with a triple. The next batter, 2B Criston Arnal, bounced back to the mound, and in the ensuing run-down, Drennen was tagged out, but he stalled long enough for Arnal to reach second base safely. A passed ball put Arnal on third base, and a ground out brought him across the plate.

Four singles, by 2B Josh Harrison, DH Matt Hague, RF Miles Durham, and Presley brought in two more Curve runs in the top of the 4th inning. Akron again came back with one run in the bottom of the frame, on a double, a ground out, and a balk by Owens. The Curve got that run back in the top of the 5th. D'Arnaud doubled to begin the inning, and scored on Hague's second single, to give the Curve a 5-2 lead.

Owens gave up just those two runs over 7 innings of work, on 2 hits and a walk, plus the balk and the passed ball by Gimenez. He also struck out 2 batters. Ronald Uviedo pitched the 8th inning, and gave up one run on two walks and a single plus an RBI grounder. Danny Moskos earned his 11th save, retiring the side in the 9th.
