Alvarez and Tabata cut, Super Two breakdown

The Pittsburgh Pirates made two waves of cuts this morning, first cutting Pedro Alvarez, Jose Tabata, Doug Bernier, and Jonathan Van Every.  They followed that up by cutting Tyler Yates, Jimmy Barthmaier, Neal Cotts, and Craig Hansen. Joel Hanrahan Injured

Some bad news coming out of Spring Training this morning as Joel Hanrahan is reported to be out with a right flexor-pronator strain, and will visit Dr. James Andrews next week, a visit that is never good.  Chuck Finder has the following quote from Hanrahan: “It’s something that I kind of battled with in August and Septemeber,” months where he permitted opponents to hit a .162 average and crafted a 0.42 ERA....

I’ve updated the minor league options on the 40-man roster and payroll page, as well as the Spring Training Tracker page. There were a few that were wrong before, mainly the veteran guys.
