On this date in 1975 the Pittsburgh Pirates traded pitchers Ken Brett, Dock Ellis and rookie second baseman Willie Randolph to the New York Yankees for pitcher Doc Medich. Ellis went 96-80 in eight seasons in Pittsburgh, he was 30 at the time of the trade and went just 8-9 with a career high 3.79 ERA in 1975.
