Game 98 Recap: Cards Pounce in Fifth

I’d like to think the offense will get better. I’d like to think the Pirates can stay in it. A game like this – plus 18 years of futility – are draining the optimism from me. Yet the Bucs are one game out of first and that’s really more than I could’ve hoped for back in March. St. Louis used a five run fifth to beat up on Kevin Correia and the Pirates. They took the second game of the weekend set...

Game 93 Recap: Bucs Lose Late Lead, Win in 11

The Pirates put a solid effort on all fronts – hitting, pitching, and fielding. The offense banged out 16 hits and scored ten times. Kevin Correia was sharp again in earning his eleventh win. The defense committed no errors. More, please! Pittsburgh pounced on Nationals and starter Jason Marquis for eight runs in the first two innings. Alex Presley started the game with a single. Chase D’Arnaud reached on an error by...
