Paul Maholm Trade Deadline Rumors

Yesterday it was reported that three teams were in contact with the Pittsburgh Pirates on starting pitcher Paul Maholm.  Those three teams were the San Diego Padres, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the New York Mets. Nothing like trade rumors as the July 31st trade deadline nears… -As mentioned earlier today, the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in Paul Maholm.  Buster Olney of ESPN reports that the Dodgers are also looking for a reliever, something the Pirates have to offer (Octavio Dotel?).  Olney mentions the Dodgers will need financial relief, similar to the Casey Blake deal (which saw the Dodgers give up Carlos Santana)....

Dodgers interested in Paul Maholm

Dejan Kovacevic is reporting that the Los Angeles Dodgers are interested in Pittsburgh Pirates left handed pitcher Paul Maholm.  The Dodgers are looking for starters, and apparently have their eye on other players, with Roy Oswalt and Ted Lilly being mentioned by DK. Maholm currently has a 4.03 ERA in 114 innings, with a 4.5 K/9 and a 3.2 BB/9.  His strikeout ratio has dropped the last few years, going from 6.1 K/9 in 2008...
