Official Elias Rankings Released

The official Elias rankings have been released, and as expected, the Pittsburgh Pirates have four players who qualify as Type B free agents.  The four players are Ryan Doumit, Chris Snyder, Derrek Lee, and Ryan Ludwick. Free agency began at 12:01 AM EST today, and 148 players have filed for free agency, including two members of the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Those members are Derrek Lee and Ryan Ludwick, the only two eligible players from the Pirates’ roster.  Neither move is a surprise, as it is standard procedure for a free agent to file on this date. Game 161 Recap: Fielder Hits Three Homers

Prince Fielder hit three homers and drove in five runs. Starters Ross Ohlendorf and Randy Wolf weren’t particularly effective. Each left the game before it was decided and wound up with a no decision. Fielder’s last homer was a two run shot that broke a 4-4 tie in the seventh.
