Matt Hague Designated For Assignment to Create Room for John Axford

The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Matt Hague for assignment, creating room on the 40-man roster for today’s waiver claim of John Axford. Previously it was assumed that Stolmy Pimentel would be DFAd, as he was seen leaving Clint Hurdle’s office after the game. First Pitch: A Look at Everything Going Wrong For the Pirates Bullpen This Year

If there’s one thing Neal Huntington has been consistently good at, it has been building a bullpen and finding a lot of quality relievers. Pirates Place Francisco Liriano on the DL, Activate Stolmy Pimentel

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed Francisco Liriano on the disabled list and have activated Stolmy Pimentel off the DL. Liriano suffered an oblique injury last night, and the time he will spend on the DL is unknown at this point. Pimentel got two rehab appearances, with his last one being three shutout innings in Altoona, giving up three hits, one walk, and striking out five. It will be interesting to see what the Pirates do to...
